COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams concluded their events on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19.
On day one, Jaquary Bradford placed third in the long jump with a leap of 22-7.25 feet while Jordan Williams finished seventh with a jump of 21-3.5 feet.
Harrison Mansell took third in the high jump with a leap of 6-2. Sam Blumer also placed third in the pole vault with a PR of 15-1 which earned him the number two all-time spot in school history.
Sophomore, Devin Merrick was set a new PR of 14-1.25 and earned the number eight spot all-time while placing fifth in the competition.
Timiebi Ogobri was sixth in the 60-yard dash with a personal record of 7.01 seconds while Colin Martin was seventh in the 3K with a time of 8:55.
Prince Howard-Whitaker took seventh in the weight with a record toss of 45-4.25. Josiah Johnson placed third collegiately in the 300 with a time of 35.63, earning him the third spot all-time. Johnson went on to run the Invitational 60 and was tenth overall and seventh collegiately with a time of 6.86.
Joie Royer ran a 43.76 to earn the number five spot all-time, while Tamia Burch ran 45.12 to earn the number nine spot all-time. Freshman, Chelsi Smalls began her career as a Bulldog running a 46.08 to earn the number ten spot all-time.
On the second day of competition, Ja'Lon Williams threw 50-3.5 in the weight while Jessy Page recorded a toss of 48-0.75.
"Day two wasn't exactly what we had planned but expectations were exceeded on day one. We are proud of the way our cadet-athletes have been conditioned and are ready to make an impact immediately. Having that many top 10 school performances this early gives us a lot of confidence for big things to come this year. Our athletes are recovering from coming off the long break, but we showed a lot of promise for a great season," said assistant coach Kris Kut.
The Citadel track and field will return to action next weekend as they travel to the VMI Team Challenge.
