LEXINGTON, VA. – The Citadel track and field wrapped up indoor competition at the VMI Team Challenge with a pair of individual victories.
Graduate transfer, Colin Martin took first place in the 5k with a new personal record of 15:04.26. His finish also earned him the No. 3 spot in program history at The Citadel.
Josiah Johnson won the 60m final with a mark of 6.80. Johnson also ran the fastest preliminary time with 6.85 second finish. Fellow Bulldog,
Cardan Williams crossed the line third with a time of 7.02.
Sam Blumer placed second in the pole vault with a record leap of 15-3, earning him the number two spot on the all-time list.
Newcomer Keefe White took fourth place in the 60HH final with a time of 8.77 while the men's 4x400 team of
Clarence Richardson,
Stephan Kulick,
Jeremy Shipley and
Demi Lasisi finished third with a time 3:32.44.
For the women,
Casey Miller picked up a seventh-place finish in the mile with 5:35.88 and would later finish with a PR of 2:27.03 in the 800m. Freshman,
Mya Dollard placed seventh in her second event as a Bulldog with a mark of 4-11.5 in the high jump.
The men's team took sixth place while the women took home ninth. The Bulldogs will return to action next Friday as they hit the road to Columbia, S.C. to compete in the Carolina Challenge.
"This wasn't our best performance but we were happy to see some cadet-athletes get top finishes. We will use this week to tune up some things and head to Columbia with some fresh legs," said assistant coach
Kris Kut.
