ORLANDO, Fla. – Six Bulldogs set season personal records Saturday morning as The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams ran in the 23rd Annual Disney Cross Country Classic held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
The women's team finished fourth out of 16 teams in the women's 5K run titled "Ursula," and the men's team finished seventh out of the 12 teams participating in the men's 8K run titled "Scar."

Men's Distance: 8,000 meters (8K) - Scar
Women's Distance: 5,000 meters (5K) - Ursula
WOMEN'S RACE
- The Citadel women were paced by junior Amber Opp, who finished 13th in a time of 19:12.5.
- Freshman Heidi Fortin finished 24th in a time of 19:55.6, and junior Casey Miller set a season personal record with a time of 20:07.2, finishing 26th.
- Freshman Grace Wolfe and senior Jordan Neeley finished in times of 20:41.0 and 21:15.3, respectively.
- Senior Daniela Sanchez-Martinez and junior Kenslee Padgett each set season PRs. Sanchez-Martinez raced to a 22:52.4, while Padgett finished in a time of 23:32.0.
MEN'S RACE
- The men's squad was led once again by sophomore Lane Johnson, who finished 16th in a time of 27:39.4.
- Sophomore Andrew McNay and freshmen Ty Duben and Billy Eggers all set season personal records in the 8K race. McNay finished in a time of 32.11.3, Duben finished second on the team and 32nd overall with a time of 28:24.6, and Eggers finished third on the team and 37th overall in a time of 28:40.9.
- Andrew Smith finished fourth on the team in a time of 29:02.6, and junior Jeremy Shipley finished fifth on the team with a time of 29:15.3.
- Freshman Aidan Richter was sixth on the team with a time of 29:48.8, and senior Eric Avalos finished in a time of 30:14.2.
COMING UP
The two squads will race one more time in the month of October, heading to Bluffton, South Carolina to run in the USCB Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19. Following that race, the Bulldogs will be off until racing in the 2019 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee on Saturday, Nov. 2.
