HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bulldogs broke up four different scoring runs in the first set before falling, 25-15.
• The Citadel took the third set after a neck-and-neck battle, mounting a five-point run to help put the set out of reach for the Paladins.
• Freshman Maddy Cardenas registered a career-high 11 kills on the night, including three service aces.

"After tonight's match we are entering a stretch that will allow for more time in the gym. Getting a whole week of practice will be good for us," said head coach Dave Zelenock. "We are proud of our freshman tonight in how they stepped up to the competition."

The Citadel will take almost a week off before going back out on the road to take on Western Carolina Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.
