GREENVILLE, S.C. – The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame has announced that The Citadel linebacker Willie Eubanks III and quarterback Brandon Rainey were named finalists for the 2019 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy presented by Hale's Jewelers. The award is given to the most outstanding collegiate player of the year that has South Carolina ties.
 
The recipient of the Blanchard-Rogers Trophy will be announced at the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame's Enshrinement Banquet, scheduled for April 22, 2020, at the Hilton in Greenville. Recent winners include Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph, a native of Rock Hill, S.C., Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, and Clemson running back Travis Etienne, Jr.

The award trophy, bearing the recipient's name, is hand-crafted by Ryan Calloway of Creative Iron Works.
 
Eubanks, who was recently named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List, has posted 92 tackles, 51 solo, 7.0 tackles-for-loss, 2.0 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 10 quarterback hurries. The junior has posted five double-digit tackle performances, including four in the last six games.
 
Rainey has set a single-season school record for touchdowns accounted for with 26. Through nine games, Rainey has carried the ball 195 times for 758 yards and 16 touchdowns. His 16 touchdowns are tied for second in the FCS.
 
Through the air, Rainey has gone 46-of-79 for 842 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is just the second quarterback in program history to rush for and throw for at least 10 touchdowns in a season.
