Three Bulldogs Take the Podium at SoCon Wrestling Championship

BOONE, N.C. - The Citadel wrestling team took fourth place as a team and three Bulldogs took a spot on the podium. This is the first time since 2014 that the Bulldogs have finished in the top half of the field.
Sawyer Root went 2-1 on the day, dropping his final battle against No. 18 Randall Diabe. Root earned second place and concluded his season with a record of 31-13 overall.
Freshman Dazjon Casto earned his first medal as a Bulldog, earning third place after battling back from the consolation round to defeat Cameron Pine by major decision.
Heavyweight Michael McAleavey recorded two pins and a technical fall on his way to earning third place in the Championships. McAleavey went 3-1 on the day and finishes the year 14-15 overall.
