Football Adds Graduate Linebacker

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel football head coach Brent Thompson has announced the addition of graduate transfer Airan Reed. The linebacker will have one year of eligibility with the Bulldogs.
 
Reed (6-2, 228) comes to the Lowcountry after playing the previous three seasons at Southern Illinois. He played in all 33 games over the previous three seasons for the Salukis, getting the start in 24 of those games.
 
He is coming off a junior season in which he recorded 34 tackles, including 6.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and four pass break-ups. He had a season-high seven tackles against Indiana State and registered three tackles-for-loss against Youngstown State.
 
Reed started all 11 games as a sophomore, posting 51 tackles and 5.0 tackles-for-loss. He came on strong during his freshman season by making 18 tackles over the final four games. He also registered his first interception in his first career start against South Dakota.
 
Originally from Medina, Tennessee, Reed was a two-time all-region selection at South Gibson County High School. He finished his senior year with 104 tackles, five interceptions and three forced fumbles.
