YOUNGSTOWN, Oh. – The Citadel volleyball team dropped its season opener, 3-1 to Bucknell Friday night as the Bison capitalized on serving with nine aces throughout the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bulldogs were neck and neck throughout the match with 44 and 42 kills respectively.
The Bison closed out the match with a 62% kill rate to the 'Dogs 52%.
Mellanie King led The Citadel with 10 kills followed by Makaya Middleton with eight and Sarah Dobrich with seven.
Bucknell had two players with double-digit kills with 12 and 11.

NEXT UP
The Bulldogs will play back-to-back matches tomorrow, taking on Saint Francis (Pa.) 10:00 a.m. and tournament host, Youngstown State at 3:00 p.m.
