KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Gavin Stewart and freshman Zvonko Bencedic recorded their first doubles victory of the season Monday afternoon, winning 6-3 at No. 1 singles over No. 18 Tennessee's Andrew Rogers and Pat Harper, but it was the nationally-ranked Volunteers who were ultimately victorious as they took the match 7-0 over the Bulldogs.

Match Rundown

• The two teams opened the day with the doubles competition
•  The 18^th-ranked Volunteers went up 1-0 in doubles action by taking the No. 3 matchup, but Stewart and Bencedic tied up the match with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The victory was the tandem's first together.
• UT took the doubles point with a victory at No. 2 as sophomore Phillip Quinn and senior Noah Nawabi dropped a tough 6-4 decision.
• Singles action got underway with UT taking the No. 2 and No. 4 points behind matching 6-0, 6-0 victories.
• The No. 5 singles matchup between UT's Mark Wallner and The Citadels Bencedic proved to be an exciting one as Bencedic took four points from Wallner before ultimately falling 6-3, 6-1. UT claimed the match with the win at No. 5.
• At No. 3, Nawabi also took four points from Rogers, falling 6-2, 6-2.
• No. 6 singles featured Quinn going up against Finn Stodder, ranked 112^th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Quinn put up a strong fight, falling 6-1, 6-2.
• No. 1 singles was the final matchup left on the court as Stewart forced Scott Jones to a tiebreaker in the second set, ultimately falling 6-2, 7-5.
