CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Citadel basketball team dropped a Southern Conference road game, 92-69, to Chattanooga Wednesday night at McKenzie Arena.

KEY STATS
- The two teams traded 3-pointers to open the game, but Chattanooga quickly jumped out to a 10-5 lead by the first media TO.
- After missing the first 3-pointer of the game, UTC hit four straight, all by different players, to open up a 22-9 lead with 13:04 left in the opening half.
- With 10:11 remaining in the first half, the Mocs boasted a 15-point, 28-13 lead, but the Bulldogs began to chip away at the deficit, and with 6:14 left, Kaelon Harris converted a pair of free throws to make it a nine-point, 32-23 game.
- After Chattanooga managed to extend the lead back out to double digits, the Rudy Fitzgibbons, III cut the lead back down to seven, 43-36 with three made free throws.
- Eddie Davis, III again cut into the lead with a layup, setting the score at 49-40, and appeared to give the Bulldogs some much-needed momentum heading into the locker room, but Matt Ryan converted a 3-pointer from the far corner as time expired to make it a 12-point, 52-40 game.
- Chattanooga carried that momentum over into the second half and opened the period on a 16-2 run.
- From there, the two teams were fairly equally matched, but the Bulldogs never managed to close the gap.
- The Citadel shot 43.8% (14-of-32) from the field in the first half, but connected on just 25.9% (7-of-27) of their looks in the second half to end the contest shooting 35.6%.
- The Bulldogs converted just six of their 25 3-pointers (.240), but shot 84.0% (21-of-25) from the free throw line.
- Chattanooga opened the game shooting 52.9% (18-of-34) from the field, and after starting off 4-of-5 (.800) from beyond the 3-point arc, the Mocs ended the period shooting 56.3% from long range.
- UTC ended the game shooting 49.2% (32-of-65) from the field and 42.9% (12-of-28) from beyond the arc.
- Kaiden Rice led the Bulldogs with 11 points, including making three 3-pointers.
- Harris, Davis and Alex Reed all ended the night with eight points. Davis added a team-high eight rebounds.
- Ramon Vila led five Mocs in double-digit scoring with a game-high 17 points.
NOTES
- Every Bulldog that played at Chattanooga scored.
- Rice moved up into a tie for 10th in program history for career made 3-pointers. He converted three Wednesday night and has 160 for his career. He matches Dante Terry (2002-06) and Donny McLendon (1999-2003) and is 16 made triples away from ninth.

The Bulldogs will next return home to McAlister Field House to begin a two-game homestand against in-state foes Furman (Jan. 25) and Wofford (Jan. 29).

Fans attending ticketed athletic events at The Citadel this year are reminded of the new clear bag policy that has been implemented. Under the policy, fans will be allowed to bring with them a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag that does not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a one-gallon plastic bag (such as Ziploc or Hefty bags).
