CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Citadel senior Michael McAleavey recorded three victories to lead the Bulldogs at the Southern Scuffle.
 
How it Happened

• McAleavey suffered an opening-round loss, but came back to win each of his next three matches.
• McAleavey began his run with a 7-3 decision over Cole Rickert (Pittsburgh). He followed it up with a 3-2 decision over Colin Lawler (NC State) and a 6-4 sudden victory over Jamarcus Grant (Oregon State).
• The run would come to end with a fall to Brandon Metz (North Dakota State).
• Jake Rotunda opened the event with an 8-5 decision over Antony Cefolo (Rider) at 135 pounds.
• Jacob Dado picked up a 6-2 decision over Sal Jones in his opening-round match at 141 pounds.
• Selwyn Porter recorded a fall at 4:28 in his opening round match against Kyle Prewitt at 149 pounds.
• A pair of Bulldogs, Chris Fasano and Dazjon Castro each picked up opening-round victories at 165 pounds.
• Fasano defeated Will Edger (Arkansas-Little Rock), 7-5, while Castro posted a 7-3 decision over Riley Smucker (Cleveland State)
• Kyle Kretzer suffered a loss in his first match at 174 pounds, but came back for a 6-1 victory over Samuel Mora (Gardner-Webb) in the consolation bracket.

The Bulldogs return to action Jan. 11 with a pair of matches in New York. The Citadel will take on Long Island in Brooklyn at 11 a.m. before heading over to Hempstead to take on Hofstra at 4 p.m.
