How it Happened
- The Bulldogs opened the first set strong with a four-point lead.
- Western Carolina fought their way back and met at 4-4.
- The teams exchanged points and were still tied at 12. From there, The Citadel went on 9-2 run taking the lead.
- A Catamount error and a kill from Sharlissa de Jesus ended the first at 25-18.
- The second set saw a similar start and the teams were once again tied at 11.
- A five-point run from WCU allowed a solid lead, but it was interrupted by kills from Maddy Cardenas and Makaya Middleton.
- The Bulldogs ultimately could not return the lead, and the set ended at 25-23.
- In the third, the teams continued to evenly trade points, but a service ace from Ali Ruffin and a kill from de Jesus sparked The Citadel's momentum.
- The Bulldogs went on a 9-2 run and two Catamount errors ended the set at 25-12.
- The final set saw the Bulldogs take an early lead, and multiple kills from de Jesus put the set at 11-6.
- WCU fought their way back within two points, but kills from Ruffin, Gina Delancey, and Cardenas pulled The Citadel to 21-15.
- Another kill and a service ace from Cardenas ended the fourth at 25-19.
