How it Happened
- The Bulldogs got off to a hot start as Jason Roche knocked down a pair of three-pointers on the way to a 14-2 lead.
- The Panthers would score with 15:05 left in the first half to pull within nine points, but that was answered by an 11-2 Bulldog run to push the lead to its largest of the game at 18 points.
- Pitt would again get within nine points later in the first half before a putback from Hayden Brown late in the half sent the teams to the locker room with the Bulldogs up by 12 points.
- The early part of the second half belonged to Brown as he scored seven points in the first 93 seconds of the half to push the advantage to 15 points.
- The Bulldogs knew they would have to withstand a run from the Panthers, and they did just that. After a three-point play pulled the Panthers within nine with 17:13 to play, the Bulldogs went back on the offensive and did not allow the Panthers to get the game back into single digits the rest of the game.
- Roche helped to put the game away as he connected on three three-pointers in the final 6:09 for the 15-point victory.
