Basketball Suffers Setback at Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel could not overcome a cold shooting night in falling, 65-58, at UNC Asheville Wednesday night inside the Kimmel Arena.

How it Happened
  • Both teams struggled offensively in the opening minutes of the game, but a Jason Roche three and a jumper from Brent Davis tied the game, 9-9.
  • The Citadel would take its first lead moments later as Hayden Brown found a cutting Jackson Price for the layup.
  • The teams would exchange baskets over the next several minutes before an 11-3 run from Asheville allowed them to take a 31-24 lead into the locker room.
  • The Citadel came out strong in the second half with a quick 9-3 run to pull within 34-33 with 17:27 to play.
  • A quick 5-0 run from Asheville was answered in a hurry with a 6-0 run from The Citadel to tie the game at 39.
  • With just over nine-and-a-half minutes to play, Asheville went on a 9-0 run to open a 10-point advantage.
  • The Citadel battled back and pulled within three on a pair of Roche free throws, but the Bulldogs were unable to get any closer.
