COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel's
Sam Blumer set a new school record in the pole vault to lead the Bulldogs at the USC Indoor Open on Saturday.
Blumer cleared 5.01m (16-05.25) to win the event. The vault breaks the previous record of 4.85m (15-11.00) set by both Blumer and
Devin Merrick at the 2019 Southern Conference Championships.
Men's Results
- Blumer tied for the meet championship with Auburn's James Courson. Both competitors cleared 5.01m on their first attempt and failed on all three attempts at 5.16m.
- Timiebi Ogobori ran personal-best time of 6.95 in the 60-meter dash to place sixth.
- The time ranks as the sixth fastest indoor time in program history.
- Kane Duncan ran the seventh fastest indoor time in program history in the 400-meters with a time of 49.24. The time was good enough to take seventh in the event.
- Prince Howard-Whitaker took sixth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw. He threw 45-2.25 in the shot and 52-9.5 in the weight throw.
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Duncan, Treonte Newton, Jeremy Shipley and Tyler Manon took third place with a time of 3:22.97.
- Will Ray, Aidan Richter, Jeremy Walker and Ty Duben ran a 10:50.43 in the distance medley to finish second.
Women's Results
- Leah Murray ran a personal-best time of 7.91 in the 60-meters. The time was good enough for fourth on the all-time indoor list.
- Murray also ran a personal-best in the 200-meters with a time of 25.92. The time is the third-fastest in program history.
- Jay Mitchell ran the seventh-fastest indoor 400-meter time in school history with a 1:00.89.
- She also ran a 26.83 in the 200-meters, which is the ninth-fastest time in program history.
- The 4x300 team of Joie Royer, Murray, Mitchell and Tamia Burch set a new school-record with a time of 2:58.33.
