How It Happened
- The Citadel jumped out to an early lead, scoring four of the match's first five points as a trio of errors plagued the Terriers out of the gate.
- The Bulldogs maintained their lead until a 6-1 run from Wofford gave the Terriers a 12-11 advantage.
- Wofford's lead grew to as many as three, but a run of three straight points, again keyed by Terrier errors, brought The Citadel level at 19-19.
- Wofford briefly retook a 21-20 lead, but The Citadel fired off five straight points to take the opening set, capped by a kill from Sharlissa de Jesus on set point.
- The Terriers raced out to a 5-1 lead in the second set and never trailed in the frame as they leveled the match at one set apiece with a 25-18 win.
- Much like the second set, Wofford tallied the first four points of the third set to take an early lead, but The Citadel battled back to cut the deficit to one at 6-5.
- The Terriers then used a run of six straight points to take control of the set and did not relinquish their lead from there to take a 2-1 lead.
- After Wofford grabbed an early lead in the fourth set, The Citadel fought back with three straight points, and a kill from de Jesus followed by an ace from Kenzie Kellerman gave the Bulldogs an early 3-2 advantage.
- A 6-1 run by the Terriers gave them an 8-4 lead, but a 5-2 burst from the Bulldogs brought The Citadel back within one as a pair of attack errors made it 10-9.
- Wofford gained a bit of separation with a 16-12 lead, but again The Citadel refused to go away, notching four straight points, keyed by kills from Gina Delancey, Amie Greene and de Jesus to tie the fourth set at 16-16.
- From there, Wofford jumped back in front with three unanswered points and despite pulling within one, 23-22, in the late stages, The Citadel was unable to complete the comeback and force a decisive fifth set.
