Baucom Agrees to Contract Addendum

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel head men's basketball coach Duggar Baucom agreed to a new one-year contract addendum, it was announced Monday. The contract allows for up three additional seasons based on performance.

"I would like to thank our Director of Athletics Mike Capaccio and General Walters for the opportunity to continue to coach these committed young men. In a difficult season for everyone, our players handled each obstacle that was thrown their way and we plan to build on that success. We have something special in that locker room and the future is bright," Baucom said of the contract.

This season, Baucom led The Citadel to a 13-12 overall record and a 5-11 mark in Southern Conference play. The winning record was the first for the Bulldogs since the 2008-09 campaign, and The Citadel's five conference victories matched the most that it has had in a single year in six seasons under Baucom. Inside McAlister Field House, The Citadel enjoyed an 11-3 record, its most home victories since 2001-02; that mark included thrilling upsets over Wofford and ETSU as well as a last-second win over archrival VMI on Feb. 20.

In the SoCon Tournament, Baucom led The Citadel to a 100-86 victory over Western Carolina in the opening round; that win was his third postseason victory with the program, matching the program record held by Benny Blatt, Pat Dennis and The Citadel Hall of Famer Les Robinson.

In his time with the Bulldogs, Baucom has coached four All-SoCon coaches' selections and six All-SoCon media picks, including Hayden Brown (Consensus First Team) and Kaiden Rice (Second Team Media, Third Team Coaches') this season. Baucom's resume also includes the 2016-17 SoCon Freshman of the Year and a pair of NABC All-District selections in Brown and Zane Najdawi (2017-18).

Baucom is 252-296 overall (.460) in his career and 64-118 (.352) across his six seasons at The Citadel. His 64 victories with the Bulldogs make him the fifth-winningest coach in program history, only three wins behind Mel Thompson (1960-67) for fourth place.
