BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Citadel volleyball team stormed out to a victory in the opening set, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs fell, 3-1 (25-14, 16-25, 18-25, 18-25), to Samford Saturday night.

- The Citadel stormed out quickly in the opening set as a kill from Ali Ruffin gave the Bulldogs an 8-2 advantage.
- The Citadel pushed its lead to double figures before Samford responded with five-straight points.
- After a timeout, The Citadel responded with six-straight points of their own, highlighted by a pair of kills from Sharlissa de Jesus.
- The Citadel was able to put away the set with another kill from de Jesus.
- The Citadel scored the first two points of the second set, but Samford responded to take a 10-5 lead.
- The Citadel got a kill from Gina Delancey to pull within four points, but Samford pushed its advantage to eight points before taking the set.
- Samford kept the momentum into the third set as they opened a 13-5 advantage.
- The Citadel responded with three-straight points, but responded by scoring five of the next six points to open a nine-point advantage.
