CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Citadel heavyweight
Michael McAleavey placed eighth at the 2022 Southern Scuffle. He becomes the first Bulldog to place at the event since Aaron Walker placed fifth at 157 pounds in 2015.
How it Happened
- Michael McAleavey got off to a strong start in his first match of the day as he secured the single leg and tot the takedown on the trip.
- He quickly transitioned into a cradle that resulted in a fall just 45 seconds into the match.
- McAleavey faced a familiar foe in the next round, meeting Owen Trephan from NC State for the second-straight day.
- Both wrestlers were able to get an escape during the match, but nothing more.
- In sudden victory, Trephan was able to secure a takedown to win the match.
