NEW ORLEANS – The Citadel men's basketball team erased a seven-point deficit late in the second half, but was unable to maintain the momentum in falling, 74-71, to Denver in the second game of the Big Easy Classic presented by Embassy Suites New Orleans.

How it Happened
- Denver was able to get the offense going in the first half as they were able to open up a nine-point advantage just under eight minutes into the game.
- The Bulldogs battled back and tie the game on a floater from Austin Ash and a layup from Madison Durr.
- The Citadel was able to take its first lead of the half at the 5:27 mark on a three-pointer from Ash.
- The Pioneers would score the final four points of the half to take a 34-33 lead into intermission.
- The first five minutes of the second half saw the teams exchange baskets and sit in a 44-44 tie.
- The Pioneers would open up a seven-point lead with 7:26 left in the game. The Bulldogs would get a pair of free throws from Stephen Clark and a three-pointer from Ash to pull within three with just under four minutes to play.
- Elijah Morgan pulled The Citadel within one with a layup, then game the Bulldogs a 64-62 lead with a wing three-pointer on the next possession.
- Denver answered with a three-point of their own to regain the lead. They would extend the advantage to five points with less than a minute to play.
- The Bulldogs did not go away as Durr hit two free throws and Mogan knocked down a three-pointer to get within 73-71.
- Denver hit a free throw and the Bulldogs last second three-point attempt did not go, giving the Pioneers the three-point victory.

- Austin Ash recorded his first double-double as a Bulldog, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He also added two assists and four steals.
- Elijah Morgan joined Ash with a team-high 15 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc.
- Stephen Clark and David Maynard were also in double figures, finishing with 14 points and 11 points, respectively.
- The Bulldogs went 14-of-17 from the free throw line for the game.
- The Citadel outscored Denver, 17-4, on fast-break points.
