CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team earned a satisfying win hosting Wofford Saturday morning, with the mixed squad earning 4588 aggregate points and the women's team posting 4470 points to Wofford's 4381.
Freshman
James Hart posted collegiate career bests to sweep the smallbore and air rifle events with a staggering 582 and 585 points, respectively. The Bulldogs posted 2276 points to take smallbore, then charted 2312 points to take air rifle.
Riley Neiders led the women, finishing fifth with a 1131 aggregate, earning 562 points in smallbore and 567 points in air rifle.
Smallbore Results
- The Citadel won with 2276 points, while the Bulldogs women's team earned 2200 points and Wofford with 2159 points.
- James Hart IV logged 582 points to take the event and post a new career best.
- The Bulldogs took the top five spots, carried on by Emily Perkins logging 568 points, Jack Wittman at 564 points, Charlotte Welsh at 562 points and Cameron bates with 562 points.
- Riley Neiders led the women's team with 562 points, with Deanna Douglass in eighth with 555 points and Demi Perez ninth with 546 points.
- Daniel Shapiro took tenth place to make The Citadel 9-for-10 with 538 points.
- Wofford's Isabella Timmons was the team's lone finisher in the top ten with 562 points, tying with Bates and Neiders.
Air Rifle Results
- The Citadel logged 2312 points to Wofford's 2222, as both Bulldogs squads combined to take the top eight spots.
- James Hart posted a career-best 585 points to win the event, with Charlotte Welsh right behind him with 583 points.
- Emily Perkins was next in third with 575 points, with the women's team's Dami Perez fourth with 572 points.
- Cameron Bates took fifth with 569 points.
- The women's team's Emma McCorkle and Riley Neiders were sixth and seventh, respectively, with McCorkle earning 568 points and Neiders 567 points.
- Wofford's Ansley-Brooke Springer and Isabella Timmons earned eighth and ninth with a respective 566 and 565 points.
- Jack Wittman took tenth with 563 points.
