Bulldogs Close Regular Season With Convincing Win Over VMI

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team closed out the regular season with a convincing 32-5 victory over VMI on Senior Day Sunday afternoon inside McAlister Field House.

  • The match got off to an exciting start with entertaining matches at 125 and 133 pounds.
  • Malik Hardy began the match with a takedown in the final minute of the first period and turned it into an 8-0 lead after the first period.
  • He would could continue the momentum throw the next two periods and secure the major decision victory.
  • Jake Rotunda followed by getting a near fall in the opening minute of the match, then finishing it off with a fall at 1:48.
  • Ethan Willis utilized a pair of takedowns in the first two periods for a convincing shutout win.
  • Dazjon Casto needed only 87 seconds to secure a fall in his final home match.
