
Tennis Wins Home Opener Against Washington and Lee

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Bulldogs won their home opener of the 2022 season against Washington and Lee, 6-1, Tuesday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center.
Doubles
- Hayden Shoemake/Lucas Robins (CIT) def. James Kurani/Will Kistler (WLU), 8-4
- Sebastian Kamieniecki/Zvonko Bencedic (CIT) def. Eli Hirshberg/ T.J. Rudden (WLU), 8-6
- Connor Coleman/Evan Brady (WLU) def. Leo du Plooy/Josiah Schainblatt (CIT), 8-2
- Hayden Shoemake (CIT) def. T.J. Rudden (WLU), 6-2, 6-2
- Zvonko Bencedic (CIT) def. Will Kistler (WLU), 6-2, 7-5
- Eli Hirshberg (WLU) def. Josiah Schainblatt (CIT), 6-4, 6-3
- Sebastian Kamieniecki (CIT) def. Evan Brady (WLU), 6-0, 6-4
- Lucas Robins (CIT) def. Connor Coleman (WLU), 3-6, 6-2, 6-2
- Andrew Darby (CIT) def. James Kurani (WLU), 6-1, 6-4
- The doubles teams of the Bulldogs earned a doubles match point to start the match.
- The Bulldogs were 5-1 in singles match play against the Generals.
- Hayden Shoemake dominated in the No. 1 singles spot, defeating T.J. Rudden, in the first set, 6-2, and the second set, 6-2
- Zvonko Bencedic in the No. 2 singles spot continues to be a tough competitor against his opponents. Bencedic won the first set, 6-2, and the second set 7-5.
- Sebastian Kamieniecki took a No. 4 singles spot victory over Evan Brady, 6-0, 6-4
- Lucas Robins was forced into three sets against Brady (WLU), Brady took the first set 3-6, and Kamienicki won sets two and three, 6-2, 6-2.
- Andrew Darby picks up his second singles victory of the season, defeating James Kurani in the No. 6 singles spot, 6-1, 6-4.
The Bulldogs will continue match play at home against the University of New Orleans on Feb. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
