Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team fell to Fresno State in three (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) and Rutgers in five (25-21, 15-25, 17-25, 25-16, 13-15) to finish out the College of Charleston Classic on Saturday afternoon in TD Arena.

How it Happened
- The Citadel began the match with a two-point lead after an attack error from Fresno State and a service ace from Maddy Cardenas.
- A three-point run from Fresno State was interrupted by a kill from Gina Delancey and followed by two from Cardenas to tie the set at 9-9.
- The set stayed close until a kill and solo block from Ali Ruffin pushed The Citadel to a three-point lead and forced Fresno State into a timeout.
- The Citadel returned from the timeout strong and Jaelynn Elgert put away a service ace, but Fresno State pushed back and ended the set on a four-point run at 25-22.
- Fresno State started the second set with the same strength and took a 4-0 lead.
- Two Fresno State attack errors and two block assists from Sadie Gomez and Sam Barnes pulled The Citadel back to a tie.
- A service ace from Elgert and kills from Cardenas and Ruffin kept the set close until Fresno State went on another 4-0 run.
- The Citadel trailed behind for the rest of the set and it was ended at 25-18.
- Amie Greene subbed in at the beginning of the third and provided an assist to Cardenas and Ruffin to get the set started.

- Rutgers started the match with the first two points, but they were quickly returned from the Bulldogs meeting back at 3-3.
- Belle Hogan and Ali Ruffin each recorded two kills to take a 9-6 lead.
- The Citadel maintained the lead with contributions from Maddy Cardenas, Gina Delancey, Sam Barnes and Sadie Gomez.
- The Bulldogs ended the set on a three-point run at 25-21.
- Gomez and Ruffin put away kills that started the second set with a 4-2 advantage.
- Efforts from Cardenas and Barnes kept the lead and put the set at 10-8, but Rutgers returned with a three-point run.
- Another streak from Rutgers forced the Bulldogs into a timeout at 16-12, but Rutgers came back out with another seven and pushed the set to the end (25-15).
- Rutgers came into the third set strong, but The Citadel fought back and met up at 7-7.
