CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel Bulldogs held a 56-55 lead halfway through the second half but some empty possessions down the stretch allowed the Eagles to escape with a 75-71 win on Friday night.
First Half:
- AJ Smith's three trimmed the deficit to three, 13-10.
- Another CIT triple, this time from Keynan Davis knotted the game at 17-17 halfway through the first 20 minutes.
- BC responded to take a 26-21 advantage but another Davis three gave CIT its' first lead of the night at 29-28.
- Elijah Morgan hit from beyond the arc to make it a three-point game, 32-29, before Davis' fourth three of the half put the Bulldogs ahead 35-33.
- An Eagles layup with five seconds left had the Bulldogs holding a 38-35 advantage at the break.
Second Half:
- Morgan's third triple of the contest gave CIT its largest lead of the game, 46-39, 2:33 into the frame.
- After a 6-1 spurt by BC to pull within two, 47-45, Quentin Millora-Brown's dunk over an Eagles defender gave CIT a slim 54-51 edge.
- The Eagles tied the game at 58-58 with a three of their own at the 9:16 mark but a Bulldogs turnover on the ensuing possession led to a BC breakaway dunk as CIT had to talk things over.
- BC stretched the differential back to six, 69-63, with 4:38 remaining before a Christian Moore make from long range made it a one-possession game.
- Madison Durr's layup cut it to one, but BC took advantage of a CIT turnover and missed three ball with a pair of layups to go up 73-68 with 0:43 seconds left.
- Morgan came up with his fourth and final three-pointer of the night with 25 ticks on the clock, but BC made both free throws to hold on for a 75-71 road win.
