GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Citadel basketball team shot over 50% from the floor for the second-straight game and received a career-high 34 points from
AJ Smith to pull away from North Carolina A&T in the second half to win 85-68.
Smith scored 34 points on 14-of-17 shooting from the floor.
Winston Hill (14 pts, 17 rebs.) and
Quentin Millora-Brown (13 pts., 10 rebs.) recorded double-doubles for the second straight game.
First Half:
- Hill tip-in gave CIT an early 15-14 advantage.
- Smith fadeaway kept the Bulldogs within one, 24-23, at the under eight timeout.
- CIT's first triple of the game, again from Smith, tied the game at 29-29 with six minutes to go until halftime.
- An 11-3 run heading into the break had CIT up 40-36.
Second Half:
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Smith and Elijah Morgan gave the Bulldogs their biggest lead of the game at that point, 53-42.
- Smith hit the 30-point mark with a free throw as CIT held a 68-51 advantage halfway through the second stanza.
- A pair of Morgan triples extended the differential to 21, 80-59, with five minutes remaining as CIT secured an 85-68 road win.
