CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team shot over 60% from the floor, scoring over 50 points in each half on its way to a 106-76 win over Toccoa Falls College on Saturday afternoon.
The 106 points marks the first time the Bulldogs hit the 100-point plateau since they scored 109 points versus Morris College on November 15, 2022.
Seven different Citadel players recorded double-digit points as
Elijah Morgan tied his career-high with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and four 3-pointers (4-of-7).
First Half:
- Morgan's 3-pointer put CIT ahead 11-3 early, forcing a TFC timeout.
- After TFC trimmed the margin to eight, 20-12, Madison Durr stepped into a three-ball to push the differential back to double figures, 25-12, at the 11:07 mark.
- A pair of Colby McAllister free throws nudged the edge over 20, 38-15, at the 8-minute timeout.
- Another triple by Morgan made it 53-29 CIT in the closing seconds of the half as the Bulldogs held a 56-31 lead at intermission.
Second Half:
- A Winston Hill layup extended the edge to 30, 65-35, three minutes into the second stanza.
- Marcus Pigram's make from beyond the arc helped CIT hit the 80-point plateau, 82-44, at the 13:35 mark of the half.
- Levi Birkholz added a breakaway dunk off a steal and dish from Pigram as CIT closed in on the 100-point mark, 96-59, with seven and change remaining.
- Cole Alexander added a free throw with 10 seconds remaining as the Bulldogs won convincingly 106-76.
