BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Citadel nearly erased a nine-point deficit in the final 38 seconds in a 76-70 loss at league-leading Samford Saturday afternoon inside the Pete Hanna Center.

How it Happened
- After Samford hit a three-pointer to start the game, The Citadel responded with an 8-1 run take the early four-point lead.
- The teams would go back-and-forth over the next seven minutes before Samford would go on a 9-0 run to take a 22-14 advantage.
- The Citadel would battle back to pull within two points on a Madison Durr jumper before the teams went into the locker room with Samford leading 32-27.
- The second half started with Samford pushing the advantage to 11 points before David Maynard knocked down a three-pointer to pull The Citadel back within four points.
- The teams would exchange baskets over the next 10 minutes before Samford pushed the advantage to 15 points with four minutes remaining.
