Bulldogs Gutsy Effort at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Citadel men's basketball team put forth a gutsy effort on the road before falling, 78-70, at ETSU Wednesday evening inside Freedom Hall.

How it Happened
  • The Citadel got off to a slow start in the first seven minutes of the game as ETSU opened a 17-4 advantage.
  • The Bulldogs responded with a 9-2 run to pull within six with just under nine minutes left in the first half.
  • ETSU pushed the advantage back to double digits before the Bulldogs scored the final four points of the first half to pull within 29-21 at the half.
  • The second half started with a basket down low from Stephen Clark, but ETSU was quickly able to push the advantage back to 13.
  • The Bulldogs made their way to the free throw line as part of an 8-0 run that saw the deficit trimmed to five at the 15-minute mark.
  • AJ Smith would score six-straight points for the Bulldogs as they were able to keep it close.
  • ETSU would make another run to extend its advantage to 17 points before the Bulldogs put together one last charge that saw them get as close as five points.

  • The Bulldogs went 16-of-30 from the field and scored 49 of their 70 points in the second half.
  • The Citadel finished 18-of-20 from the charity stripe.
  • Stephen Clark led a pair of Bulldogs in double figures with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He also added four assists and three blocks.
  • Austin Ash went 6-of-6 from the free throw line and finished with 13 points.
  • David Maynard and Colby McAllister each finished with nine points.
  • Madison Durr added seven points and five rebounds.
