
Record Breakers at South Carolina Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams had an impressive day one at the South Carolina Invitational, which consisted of three broken school records and nine top-ten finishes in program history.

- Kane Duncan earned the second spot all-time in the 300m with a PR time of 35.12.
- Andrew Smith continues to improve his mile time as he ran a time of 4:13.02, earning him the second spot all-time.
- Heidi Fortin, for the second straight week, has broken a school record; Fortin crushed her school record in the 3000m run with a time of 10:08.58, placing her second in the event.
- Mecca Jackson broke two school records; Jackson broke the record in the preliminary 60m dash with 7.76, previously held by Tanisha Bethel with a time of 7.77 in 2014. She ran a 7.84 in the 60m dash in the qualifying round for the finals.
- Jackson broke the 300m dash with a time of 40.59, also held by Tanisha Bethel with a time of 42.27 in 2012.
- Zeniyah Lawrence ran a PR in the 60m dash with a time of 7.97 to earn her the sixth spot all-time.
- Leah Murray earned the seventh spot all-time in the 300m run with a time of 42.92.
- Cyla Byrd ran 43.80 to earn the tenth spot all-time in the 300m.
- Tatiana Corso had two top-ten finishes in the shot put and weight throw. Corso finished fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 48-7.25 and placed seventh in the shot with a PR toss of 40-7, earning her the fifth spot in the program's history.
The Bulldogs will compete on day two of the South Carolina Invitational.
