Maynard Has Career Day

CHARLESTON, S.C. – David Maynard's career day for Bulldogs would not be enough as The Citadel fell to the UNCG Spartans, 79-59, inside a packed McAlister Field house on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • UNCG started the game off to a 4-0; back-to-back three-pointers from Elijah Morgan and David Maynard gave the Bulldogs a 6-4 lead.
  • The Bulldogs fell to a 24-15 deficient but would narrow the lead to 20-24 after a Stephen Clark dunk with 5:18 left on the clock.
  • The Spartans would take a nine-point lead over the Bulldogs with 2:49 left.
  • The Bulldogs headed into the locker room with 38-29 deficient.
  • The Spartans lead would grow to as much as 22 points before a three-pointer from Austin Ash and a pair of free throws from Stephen Clark narrowed the lead with 12:19 left.
  • That would be as close as the Bulldogs would get in falling to the Spartans.

  • David Maynard scored a career-high 19 points going 6-9 from the field and knocking down five three-pointers in the process.
  • Austin Ash and Elijah Morgan would join Maynard in double figures as Ash had 12 and Morgan had 10.
