CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team is set for a doubleheader match-up against Converse University (1 pm) and SCAD (4 pm) on Mar. 3 and opening Southern Conference match play against Samford on Mar. 5.
The matches between Converse and SCAD will take place at the Earle Tennis Center, and the Bulldogs will travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford (11 am) at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.
The Citadel sits at a 3-12 overall record, with
Lucas Robins picking up the lone singles match victory over Tennessee's Martim Prata on Feb. 24.
Scouting Converse
The Valkyries have a 2-4 overall record, with a recent defeat against Augusta University on Feb. 23. This marks the first meeting between schools. Merlin Bellet leads Converse in the No. 1 singles spot with a 3-1 overall record.
Scouting SCAD
SCAD heads into the match-up against the Bulldogs with a 0-2 overall record, with a recent defeat against College of Coastal Georgia. The Bulldogs and the Hornets recently played a singles & doubles tournament against each other.
Scouting Samford
Samford is 4-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play, with a conference loss to ETSU on Feb. 26. Samford will take on UNCG before facing The Citadel on Mar. 4. Darcy Nicholls leads Samford with a 5-3 singles record. Samford holds a 14-game winning streak against The Citadel.
