HOUSTON – The Citadel's Austin Ash has been selected to participate in the TaxAct Men's 3-Point Championship at the 34^th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston on Thursday, March 30. Ash is one of eight players selected for the event that will air live on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Ash will become the first Bulldogs to represent The Citadel in the three-point competition and at the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four.
 
In his one season as a Bulldog, Ash averaged 15.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He became just the fifth player in program history to eclipse 100 made three-pointers in a season, finishing with 102. He also shot .921 (58-63) from the foul line.
 
Ash made at least four three-pointers in 11 games this season, including making at least seven three-pointers in a game three times. He began his career as a Bulldog by making 14 three-pointers in the first three games of the season. In a game against Longwood on Dec. 17, Ash knocked down nine three-pointers, just one off the school record. He would go on to make seven three-pointers against Chicago State, before hitting on eight three-pointers in his final home game against Wofford.
 
The State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships invites the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players to compete for slam dunk and 3-point shooting bragging rights. The night features the King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship, the TaxAct Men's 3-Point Championship, the Celsius Women's 3-Point Championship and the Applebee's Team Shootout. The winners of the men's and women's 3-Point competitions will then compete in the Rocket Mortgage Battle of the Champions.
 
For nearly 35 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Denzel Valentine, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Tiffany Hayes and Ariel Atkins.
 
Intersport will stage three events during college basketball's most exciting weekend at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston, which it will dub Hoops House, providing ample programming for fans near and far to whet their basketball appetites ahead of the college basketball's season finale.
