CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel's
Solomon Ghosh and
Ali Ruffin qualified for the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East First Round on May 24-27 at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
Solomon Ghosh secured the 41st position out of 48 discus throwers in the NCAA East First Round. He made a mark of 54.38m (178-05) in the discus throw to be eligible. Ghosh defended his discus title at the 2023 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships with a throw of 174-09.
Ghosh has joined the ranks of Bulldogs who have qualified for the NCAA, with
JP Caglione being the most recent to do so during the 2022 outdoor season in the hammer throw event.
Ghosh will throw on Friday, May 26, at 1:00 p.m.
Ali Ruffin has successfully qualified for the javelin event by achieving a mark of 45.24m (148-05), securing her the 48th spot in the NCAA East First Round. During the 2023 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships, Ruffin threw a distance of 131-02, securing third place in the javelin.
Last weekend, Ruffin took her first at the Last Chance meet in Mount Olive, N.C., with a heave of 142-5.
Ruffin has joined Stephanie McNeill as the latest Bulldog to qualify for the NCAA. McNeill achieved this feat back in 2006 and 2007.
Ruffin will compete on Thursday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m.
