CULLOWHEE, N.C. – On day two of the 2023 Outdoor Southern Conference Championships,
Mecca Jackson and
Solomon Ghosh secured three outdoor championship wins.

Mecca Jackson has become the first female track athlete to win the 100m and 200m dash. Jackson claimed the top position in both events with a noteworthy performance, clocking 11.52 seconds in the 100m and a school-record time of 23.68 seconds in the 200m.
Jackson joins Kenyon Doyle and Curtis Hardy as the only Cadet-Athletes to win the 100m and the 200m in a single season. Doyle accomplished this feat on the men's side in the 1999 outdoor season. Hardy won both in the 1985 and 1986 outdoor seasons.
Solomon Ghosh successfully defended his discus title by throwing 174-09, securing the first position. Ghosh is the most recent Bulldog to win the discus title since Anthony Geer was crowned the champion in 2007.
Jack Mulvey was selected to the All-Freshman team.
The men's team secured fifth place in the conference with a total of 78 points, while the women's team earned sixth place with program record 65 points.
On the Men's Side
- Stephen Kraeling earned all-conference recognition by securing the second position in the high jump, with a clearance of 6-08.75.
- Treonte Newton ran a PR time of 47.67 in the 400m finals to finish in third and earn all-conference honors.
- The 4x100m relay team of Joe Duncan Rogers, Demetrius Shine, Treonte Newton, and Mac Strunk earned all-conference honors by finishing in third at 42.52.
- Prince Moody achieved fifth place in the high jump event by leaping 6-04.75.
- Hi'keem Elmore and Ghosh finished back-to-back in the shot put. Ghosh finished in fifth with a put of 45-05.25 and Elmore with 45-04.25.
- Fred Hamilton threw 122-02 in the discus to finish in eighth.
- Jack Mulvey cleared 5-10.75 in the high jump and finished in eighth place.
- Tereis Drayton finished eighth with a PR toss of 44-0.25.
- In the 800m finals, Andrew Smith secured the eighth position with a time of 1:57.85.
- Ty Duben and Owen Sharnas earned top-ten finishes in the 5k. Duben finished in eighth with a PR time of 15:20.98, and Sharnas placed tenth with 15:38.28.
On the Women's Side
- Tatiana Corso earned the all-conference recognition for her outstanding performance. She secured the second position in the shot-put event with an impressive throw of 41-10.75. She also secured the eighth position in the discus with a throw of 120-02.
- Zeniyah Lawrence has earned all-conference honors by placing third overall in the 100m with a PR time of 11.88. She placed sixth overall in the 200m with a time of 25.01.
- Gabby Shea achieved a time of 2:18.12, earning her eighth place in the 800m finals.
