CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel football team had five players selected for the Phil Steele Southern Conference Preseason All-Conference team, with Hasan Black chosen to the first team defense.
 
Linebacker Hasan Black highlights the group as the only Bulldog selected for the first team.
 
Defensive back Dominick Poole was selected for the third team, and defensive lineman Carson Hatchett was named to the fourth team.
 
For the Special Teams, Long Snapper Steele Judy was named to the second team, and Kicker Colby Kintner was chosen for the third team.
 
Black posted his best season in 2022 with four sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 82 total tackles to lead the Bulldogs in both categories. He ranked in the top ten in the SoCon in all three categories. He posted at least six tackles in nine of the 11 games, including a season-high 11 stops against Wofford.
 
Poole showcased impressive skills as a corner, tallying 48 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Poole intercepted two passes against Western Carolina in the Bulldogs' road victory.
 
Hatchett was a dominant force on the defensive line for the Bulldogs as he posted 49 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and sacks.
 
Judy served as the long snapper all season for the Bulldogs on all extra points and field goals.
 
Kintner had his best season as a Bulldog as he went 9-for-11 on field goals and 22-for-23 on extra points. In the game against Samford, Kintner hit on a school-record 56-yard field goal in the first half. The kick was just one yard shy of the conference record. He also averaged 52.9 yards on 37 kickoffs, with seven touchbacks.
