Volleyball Ties Program Record for Wins in a Season

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Citadel Volleyball team tied the all-time program record with their 14th win over Samford 3-0 (30-28, 25-21, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • Samford started with the early lead at 4-2, but two kills from Ali Ruffin and Angelina Sayles tied the set at 6-6 in the first.
  • A kill from Belle Hogan narrowed Samford's lead by one at 14-13.
  • Samford's lead would grow to much as three with back-to-back kills at 20-17.
  • The Bulldogs would tie set one at 24-24 with a kill from Mackenzie Martin to force a win-by-two situation.
  • A bad set committed by Samford and a kill from Hogan gave the Bulldogs the first set at 30-28.
  • The Bulldogs started the second set with the early lead at 4-3 from a Ruffin kill and a service ace from Hogan.
  • Back-to-back kills from Ruffin gave the Bulldogs the three-point lead at 12-9.
  • Kills from Maddy Cardenas and Martin gave the Bulldogs an 18-14 lead.
  • Gina Delancey's kill late in the second set gave The Citadel a 20-15 advantage.
