CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel Volleyball team set the record for most wins in a season with 15 to remain undefeated in a straight-set sweep over Western Carolina (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) on Wednesday night in McAlister Field House.

How it Happened

• Western Carolina started set one with the 4-1 lead off a kill, attack error, and a service ace.
• The Citadel answered with kills from Gina DeLancey and Mackenzie Martin to take the lead at 6-5.
• A service error and a bad set by the Catamounts gave the Bulldogs the 16-12 advantage.
• A 6-1 scoring run for Western Carolina gave them the lead at 21-19.
• Four straight errors committed by the Catamounts allowed the Bulldogs to regain the lead at 23-21.
• The Bulldogs would take set one from the Catamounts from two errors.
• The Catamounts held the 5-2 advantage early in set two.
• Three straight points from Ali Ruffin allowed the Bulldogs to tie the set at 11-11.
• Ruffin's points sparked a 5-0 scoring run for the Bulldogs, with kills from Angelina Sayles and DeLancey to hold a four-point lead.
• Four kills from Western Carolina allowed them to retake the lead at 17-16.
• The Bulldogs and the Catamounts would go back and forth as each team would try to pull away with the lead late in the second set.
• A 5-1 scoring run by The Citadel fueled by kills from Maddy Cardenas and Ruffin allowed the Bulldogs to pull away with a set two win.  
• The Bulldogs jumped to an early 7-4 lead to begin the third set.
• A service ace from Martin gave the Bulldogs the four-point advantage at 13-9.
• The Citadel's lead would grow to as much as six from an attack error committed by the Catamounts.
• A late run by Western Carolina would not be enough, as Ruffin would end the set and the match with a kill.

• The Citadel volleyball team has set the record for the most wins in a season with 15, surpassing the record of 14 set in 2021.

• Ali Ruffin had a match-leading 12 kills and 15 digs for her fourth double-double in a row and her ninth of the season.
