
Tennis Opens Season with Loss to Clemson

BradeCLEMSON, S.C. - The Citadel men's tennis team opened their spring season with the first of two weekend matches by losing to Clemson, 7-0, on Saturday evening.

- In doubles play, the Bulldogs dropped the top flight 1-6.
- Noah Van Dyke and Lucas Robins fell 2-6 at 3-doubles as Clemson took the point.
- At 1-singles, Hayden Shoemake fell behind 1-5 in the first set before a 1-4 deficit in the second led to a 1-1 defeat.
- Ted Bagwell lost 2-6 in his opening set before losing 1-6 for a 2-6, 1-6 defeat at 5-singles
- At 6-singles, Bradey Minnich fell 1-6 in the first before battling back to trail 2-4 in the second. Unfortunately, Smith closed him out 6-2 as the Tigers clinched the match
- Teo Cariov dropped the first set 1-6 at 3-singles before rallying to trail by just one game, 2-3 in set two before falling 4-6.
- The 2-singles match was the most competitive for The Citadel as Sebastian Kamieniecki won the most games on the day, falling 4-6 in the first set before jumping out to a 2-0 edge in set two.
- His Tigers opponent responded by taking 6-of-7 games to win 4-and-3 as Clemson won 7-0.
