GAME NOTES

LAST TIME OUT
  • Morgan's 3-pointer put CIT ahead 11-3 early, forcing a TFC timeout.
  • After TFC trimmed the margin to eight, 20-12, Madison Durr stepped into a three-ball to push the differential back to double figures, 25-12, at the 11:07 mark.
  • A pair of Colby McAllister free throws nudged the edge over 20, 38-15, at the 8-minute timeout.
  • Another triple by Morgan made it 53-29 CIT in the closing seconds of the half as the Bulldogs held a 56-31 lead at intermission.
  • A Winston Hill layup extended the edge to 30, 65-35, three minutes into the second stanza.
  • Marcus Pigram's make from beyond the arc helped CIT hit the 80-point plateau, 82-44, at the 13:35 mark of the half.
  • Levi Birkholz added a breakaway dunk off a steal and dish from Pigram as CIT closed in on the 100-point mark, 96-59, with seven and change remaining.
  • Cole Alexander added a free throw with 10 seconds remaining as the Bulldogs won convincingly 106-76.
HITTING THE GLASS
  • The Bulldogs have only been out-rebounded once this season, at CofC but by just one board as the Bulldogs hold a +7 edge in rpg this season.
IF THIS, THEN THAT...
  • If the Bulldogs win, they would be 5-1 versus the Catamounts in their last six games.
  • If the Bulldogs lose, they'll drop the SoCon opener for the fifth time in Coach Conroy's six years at The Citadel.
  • If The Citadel beats Samford, they would beat them for just the second time in the last 12 meetings, currently on a 1-10 skid.
  • If The Citadel lose both games, it'd be the second time in the last three years they'd begin conference play 0-2.
MAGNIFICENT MORGAN
  • Elijah Morgan is on tear his last two games, averaging 20.5 ppg on 63.6% shooting from the field and 64.3% from beyond the arc.
  • He leads The SoCon in 3PT% at 45.7% (37-for-81)
NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP HERE
  • AJ Smith ranks fifth in The SoCon, averaging 16.3 points per game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
  • For Western Carolina, Vonterius Woolbright, the Preseason Player of the Year in The SoCon is off to a torrid start, leading the league in both points per game (21.2) and rebounding (12.1) as he hsd already won the Player of the Week award four times this season.
  • For Samford, Achor Achor is 12th in the conference with 12.1 ppg and 10th with 6.5 boards.
