CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team won an exciting five-set match (24-26, 26-24, 19-25, 27-25, 15-9) against the Wofford Terriers inside McAlister Field House on Saturday night.

Wofford won the first set at 26-24 to take a 1-0 lead to start the match.
Wofford had a 14-11 lead over the Bulldogs in the second set, but a 6-0 scoring run sparked by a Peri Hoshock kill gave the Bulldogs the lead at 17-14.
A kill from Mackenzie Martin and two kills from Ali Ruffin gave the Bulldogs the late lead at 23-21.
Wofford took the lead at 24-23, but consecutive Terrier errors gave the Bulldogs a 26-24 victory in set two.
Set three didn't favor The Citadel, as the Terriers would take set three at 25-19.
Wofford held the lead at 16-13 until a 7-0 run by the Bulldogs, with the help of four kills from Martin, gave the Bulldogs the lead at 20-16. The Citadel and Wofford were tied at 24-24. Sophie Childs recorded a kill, and Wofford's Bradley Brown returned the favor to make it 25-25. However, Wofford committed back-to-back errors, giving the Bulldogs the set at 27-25.
The Bulldogs jumped to an 8-4 lead thanks to an Aaliyah Byers kill to start the fifth set.
In the traditional fashion, Ruffin ended the set and the match with a kill at 15-9.
The Bulldogs had 61 kills and 105 digs against the Terriers.
Ali Ruffin had a stellar performance with 19 kills and 21 digs, her tenth double-double of the season.
Aaliyah Byers was clutch for the Bulldogs as she would post 13 kills and three total blocks.
Mackenzie Martin posted 14 kills on the night.
Belle Hogan recorded 43 digs and 13 digs.
Jaelynn Elgert led the Bulldogs with 23 digs.
