Tennis Blanks Bobcats, Clipped by Camels

CHARLESTON, SC - The Citadel men's tennis team blanked Lee-McRae 7-0 in the morning match before Campbell swept the singles session to best the Bulldogs, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Citadel 7, Lees-McRae 0
  • The Bulldogs breezed through 1 and 3-doubles, winning 6-1 and 6-2 respectively to secure the doubles point.
  • Bradey Minnich bageled his opponent at 6-singles (6-0, 6-0).
  • Noah Van Dyke was the only Bulldog to drop a set in singles play, losing the first 2-6, but he rebounded to win in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Campbell 6, The Citadel 1
  • Shoemake and Kamieniecki doubled up their 1-doubles foes while Bagwell and Cariov did the same at 2-doubles as the Bulldogs led 1-0 heading to singles play.
  • The Camels responded in singles play as they swept all six matches to secure the 6-1 win.
Coaches Corner

"We are proud about winning against a very good Lees-McRae squad", said Head Coach Chuck Kriese. "The guys played excellent doubles to win the point versus Campbell but as the coach, I take the blame for our singles performance. We were good enough to win, but Campbell played better than us coming down the stretch. They played tough in the clutch, so credit to them."

"Our team has a lot under the hood, and I love the way that we compete. The difference in winning and losing these matches is very, very small and I'm proud of the team and the direction they're headed in."
