Bulldogs Conclude Oyster Shuck Match Play on Tuesday, Earn Tie for Seventh

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's golf team wrapped up the two-day Oyster Shuck Match Play with a tie for seventh-place overall, officially launching the program's spring schedule Monday, Feb. 12 and Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the Charleston Municipal Golf Course. On a rain-soaked opening round, the Bulldogs dropped four-of-five pairings to fellow SoCon adversary Samford before faltering in a tight final round to Purdue-Fort Wayne via a three-to-one margin.
Due to inclement weather throughout Monday creating unplayable conditions on the course, the second round was cancelled.
Overall, Samford and Western Carolina scored a tie for first place while Wofford and Radford logged a tie for third. Purdue-Fort Wayne and Appalachian State picked up a tie for fifth with The Citadel and Tennessee Tech slotting in at a tie for seventh.
Megan Ikeda led the Bulldogs on the course as the senior registered victories in both of her pairings against Samford and Purdue-Fort Wayne, initially topping her Bulldog counterpart by two strokes with one to play before winning the second round over the Golden Eagles on three strokes with two to play.

The Citadel manages to remain local for the team's next bout out on the links, heading over the Ravenel into Mount Pleasant, S.C., for the RiverTowne Invitational, a three-day tournament hosted by Charleston Southern from Sunday, Feb. 25 through Tuesday, Feb. 27.
