Basketball Looks to Sweep Season Series with Mercer

LAST TIME OUT
  • Madison Durr's 3-pointer gave CIT a 10-4 edge three minutes into the ballgame.
  • A layup by Kam Roberts held the margin at seven, 22-15, halfway through the opening stanza.
  • QMB nudged the difference to double digits, 31-21, with 5:03 to go but a 6-0 spurt by the Keydets had the Bulldogs ahead by just four, 34-30, at the break.
  • A pair of Smith free throws pushed the CIT lead back to double-digits, 43-32, at the 17:02 mark of the second half.
  • The Bulldogs used an 11-2 run to pad the gap to 16, 50-34, timeout VMI.
  • Morgan's jumper stretched the CIT margin to 20, 59-39, before QMB's layup made it 72-45 with 3:33 to go as the Bulldogs closed out a 76-51 win.

  • With a win, The Citadel would sweep the season series with Mercer for the first time since the 20-18-19 campaign.
  • With a loss, the Bulldogs would fall to 3-10 in Macon in the last 13 contests.

  • Elijah Morgan set a new program-record for steals in a game with nine against VMI on Saturday.
  • The previous mark of eight was held by Preston Parks (11/13/16 vs Johnson) and Kevin Hammack (12/30/04 vs Navy).
FROM THE LINE
  • Morgan leads the conference in free throw percentage during league play at 88.1% (37-of-42).
  • AJ Smith is sixth at 81.4% while Durr is just outside the Top 10, coming in at 11th with a 74.3% clip.
  • As a team, the Bulldogs rank fifth in The SoCon at 72.0%.
OPPONENT PLAYER TO WATCH
  • #5 Jalyn McCreary ranks fourth in field goal percentage (52.5%) and 16th in scoring (14.4).
  • In the first meeting in Charleston, he paced the Bears with 16 points and seven boards on 6-of-9 shooting.
