LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Citadel redshirt sophomore
Patrick Brophy concluded a strong run at the US Open Wrestling Championship U20 Freestyle competition as fifth overall in the 92 kg division, notching a 6-1 record en route to All-American honors as well as a qualifying position in the upcoming U20 World Team Trials throughout a two-day battle Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
Brophy, who finished second overall at the Southern Conference Championships this past season in the 197 lb weight class, notably tallied his final victory for fifth place over Columbia's Jack Wehmeyer off a 9-4 mark, an opponent the redshirt sophomore previously lost to earlier during the 2023-24 campaign by a 13-0 margin at the Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational.

Brophy advances to the US Wrestling U20 World Team Trials, a three-day event slated for Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2 at the Spire Institue in Geneva, Ohio.
