STARKVILLE, Miss.. – The Citadel men's tennis associate coach Trevor Gotkowski is leaving his role with the Bulldogs after two seasons as he has accepted a position on the Mississippi State University men's tennis staff as an assistant coach.
During his time at The Citadel, he helped lead the Bulldogs to 18 victories - eight of which were shutouts - and competed in the inaugural NIT Championships in 2023. He assisted in the development of Sebastian Kamieniecki and Hayden Shoemake into All-Southern Conference performers in each of his seasons on Head Coach Chuck Kriese's staff.
"I've been around a few better coaches and teachers than Trevor," said Coach Kriese. "His knowledge of the game plus an ability to motivate greatly benefited the players in our program. Of course, we will miss him dearly, but I am excited that The Citadel has been a great platform for him to learn and grow as a coach. There is no doubt that he will be a great addition to the Mississippi State tennis program."
"I feel extremely blessed to have this opportunity to work for another great University in MSU," Gotkowski said. "To be able to work with and learn from two of the best coaches in college tennis, in Head Coach Matt Roberts and assistant coach Jake Jacoby, is something I will not take for granted. I hope to be able to help push Mississippi State tennis to the next level and to continue to compete and excel at the highest national level."
Gotkowski continued, "It is bittersweet to be leaving The Citadel and I can't thank Coach Kriese enough for his tutelage over the past two years. I loved the guys we had on our team and wish them nothing but the best moving forward."
