Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C – The Citadel basketball team trailed by five at halftime before a quick start to the second half by the Virginia Military Institute Keydets helped them open up a 16-point lead that was too big to overcome as they held on for a 75-70 win on Saturday afternoon.

Brody Fox scored 18 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds. Colby McAllister also netted 18 with seven boards and a pair of steals.

Christian Moore had a career-high 16 points as he filled the stat sheet with four rebounds, four assists, a block, and a steal.

First Half:
  • A McAllister three-point play gave The Citadel an early 11-6 edge, but VMI responded with a 14-0 run to go ahead 20-11 at the 11-minute mark.
  • McAllister would make a pair from the line before a Fox hit from beyond the arc contributed to a 7-0 Bulldogs run that pulled them within two, 22-20.
  • VMI extended its edge to 35-28 before a Fox breakaway dunk cut it back to two, 35-33, with 1:38 to go until the break.
  • The Keydets closed the half with a three to hold a 41-36 lead at the intermission.
Second Half:
  • The Keydets started the second half on an 8-2 run to go up 49-38, forcing a Bulldogs timeout.
  • A corner make gave VMI its largest lead of the game to that point, 56-42, at the 14-minute mark.
  • A 6-0 spurt ballooned the margin to 16, 62-46, before a Moore jumper stopped the bleeding.
  • Bradley Jr. was fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all of them as VMI held a 71-54 lead with four to go.
  • The Citadel mustered a late push as a Cam Glover triple, part of a 6-0 run, trimmed the margin to 11, 71-60, at the 2:16 mark.
  • VMI made 1-of-2 from the line before a Sola Adebisi layup, steal and Fox bucket cut the deficit to 72-65 with 37.6 to go.
  • The Bulldogs had to foul and the Keydets made both, but Fox answered with a quick bucket. A VMI turnover on the ensuing possession led to a McAllister three, making things interesting, 74-70, with 13 seconds left.
  • After making 1-of-2 at the line, Fox missed a three with four ticks left as VMI held on for a 75-70 victory.
