CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Citadel men's basketball team battled through a physical matchup Thursday night but fell to Boston College, 76-47, inside Conte Forum.
The Bulldogs started strong, jumping out to a 16–7 lead midway through the first half behind early three-pointers from
Christian Moore and the all-around energy of
Sola Adebisi.
Boston College responded with a 14–0 run to shift the momentum and carried a 38–24 lead into halftime. Despite the surge, The Citadel continued to battle defensively and generated steady contributions from its bench throughout the remainder of the game.
In the second half, the Bulldogs maintained their effort on both ends, highlighted by
Sola Adebisi's double-double performance and strong minutes from the reserve unit. The Eagles, however, held their advantage down the stretch to secure the win.
Christian Moore led The Citadel with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including three makes from beyond the arc. Adebisi added 10 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks for his first double-double of the season.
Braxton Williams contributed nine points, while
Marcos Gonzales added six points, four rebounds, and two steals.
As a team, The Citadel shot 30.2 percent (16-of-53) from the floor and 25 percent (5-of-20) from three-point range while holding Boston College to just five made threes. The Bulldogs also collected 36 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass, and recorded nine assists in the road effort.
Conroy's Comments
"Fouls really hurt us early and put us in a tough spot," said head coach
Ed Conroy. "We were without three starters for much of the first half, and that's hard to recover from. Our bench gave us good minutes, but their big run changed the game. We'll learn from this and get better moving forward."
