DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Citadel men's basketball team battled throughout Thursday night's road contest but fell 79–63 to Davidson inside John M. Belk Arena.
The Bulldogs generated multiple scoring stretches in both halves, received balanced production across the rotation, and continued to show improvement in paint touches, ball movement, and bench scoring.
The Bulldogs opened the night with early activity around the rim, highlighted by finishes from
Eze Wali and
Simeon German. The group later produced a late-first-half push behind baskets from
Sola Adebisi and timely scoring from
Christian Moore trimmed the deficit heading into halftime.
After the break, The Citadel found a rhythm from the perimeter and off-ball actions. Moore knocked down a second-half three and reached double figures with 10 points, while
Logan Applegate added eight points and three assists.
Gabe Hernandez provided an efficient lift off the bench with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting, continuing his strong play in the rotation.
Williams added nine points and four rebounds, and Adebisi contributed six points and five boards. The Bulldogs finished with 32 bench points and produced 32 points in the paint while shooting 50 percent inside the arc.
As a team, The Citadel shot 25-of-50 from the field (50.0 percent inside the arc), collected 31 rebounds, and assisted on 10 baskets. Davidson made 12 three-pointers and shot 47.8 percent from the floor.
Conroy's Comments
Following the game, head coach
Ed Conroy emphasized the team's effort and continued progress. "We had a lot of guys fight tonight and I was proud of their effort. There were stretches where our depth showed, and we were able to stay fresh and keep attacking the paint, which was a good sign for us. There are some correctable things we will clean up, but the spirit and togetherness were there. Davidson is a very good program, and our guys continued to compete. We will get back to work and keep moving forward," Conroy said.
