Bulldogs Continue Rivalry with Furman on Wednesday

GAME NOTES

BEYOND THE BARRACKS

LAST TIME OUT at CHATTANOOGA (2.22.25)
  • A Moore jumper tied the game, 20-20 at the 8:28 mark.
  • Huff knocked down a pair of free throws to give UTC a seven-point lead, 29-22, but McAllister hit a three on The Citadel's next possession to cut the deficit to four.
  • Fox's dunk pulled the Bulldogs back within one, 30-29, but the Mocs ended the half on an 11-4 run to hold a 41-33 edge at the break.
  • Eze Wali hit a 3-pointer to make it a four-point game, 44-40, two minutes into the second session.
  • Another 11-4 spurt by the Mocs opened up an 11-point lead, 55-44, at the 13:00 mark of the half before a pair of makes from the charity stripe by McAllister shrunk the margin back to seven, 57-50.
  • UTC quickly kicked the margin back to 12, 62-50, but back-to-back threes by Davidson and Moore trimmed the deficit back to single digits, 65-56.
  • A Bonham 3-ball pushed the advantage to 14, 71-57, but a 14-2 run by the Bulldogs, capped off by another Moore 3-pointer, cut the deficit to two, 73-71, forcing UTC to call a timeout with 2:30 to go.
  • The Mocs responded with a hoop and the harm to make it 76-71 but a jumper by Davidson was followed by a Sola Adebisi steal and dunk to make it a one-point affair with 65 seconds remaining.
  • UTC missed a pair of looks on the next trip down the court to give The Citadel a chance with 10 seconds left.
  • On the ensuing possession, McAllister missed a wing three, but Moore corralled it and put it back in as time expired, but the officials reviewed the play and waived off the shot for being after time expired as the Bulldogs fell 76-75.

FIRST TIME AROUND (1.8.25)
  • After a 30-19 deficit at the half, Glover was fouled on a three and made all of them to pull the Bulldogs within two, 35-33, at the 15:17 mark.
  • After Glover's jumper knotted the game, The Citadel added to its 18-5 run to begin the half as a second chance opportunity led to a Colby McAllister 3-ball, 42-35 Bulldogs.
  • Furman answered with five straight to trim the margin to one, 42-41, but The Citadel responded with 3-pointers by Fox and Christian Moore to kick the advantage back to six, 47-41.
  • A pair of Moore free throws extended the cushion to eight, 51-43, but a six-minute scoring drought helped the Paladins recapture the lead, 54-51 with 2:02 to go.
  • Adebisi knocked down a corner three-ball to tie the game at 56-56 (1:10) before adding a layup to again tie the contest at 58-58 (43-second mark).
  • A timely block by Adebisi with 27 seconds to go gave Paxton Davidson a jumper in the paint that went halfway down before popping out with six seconds left.
  • Furman quickly got the ball up court, but its open look did the same as Davidson's, sending the game to overtime.
  • The Paladins got the first four points of the extra session from the line before a Fox layup stopped the Bulldogs' drought three minutes into overtime.
  • Furman hit a crucial three, 65-60, at the 1:10 mark before The Citadel missed its ensuing shot from beyond the arc.
  • After a Paladins' turnover, Fox made one from the line, 65-61, which was followed by a Moore steal and Dante Kearse tip-in to get the Bulldogs within a possession, 65-63, with 10 seconds left.
  • The Citadel had to foul, and Furman made both to ice the game, 67-63.
BRODY IS BALLING
  • Fox has double-digit point performances in 15-of-16 league games this season, after scoring 20+ for the fourth straight game on Saturday.
  • He leads the team in scoring on the season at 16.8 ppg while shooting 50.3 percent from the floor.
MOORE PLEASE
  • Christian Moore scored 13 points on Saturday at Chattanooga and is averaging 12.3 ppg in conference play (24th) on 37.9% shooting from beyond the arc.
  • He has scored 13+ points in seven straight games.
SOCON RANKS
  • John Adams is 15th in league play in field goal percentage at 52.0%.
  • Brody Fox is fourth in scoring at 16.8 ppg. 
  • Sola Adebisi is T-8 in blocks at 1.0 and 15th in rebounding a 5.3.
